Five Minute Friday {Wonder}

Joining Lisa-Jo Baker for the last Five Minute Friday of 2012…

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community...

Timer’s set…

Last night, we started our Advent reading of The Jesus Storybook Bible…a couple days early. We are reading a chapter a day until Christmas. It takes us through the Old Testament and right up to Jesus’ birth. It is perfect for a 3-year-old. And a Mom who needed to hear that the God of the Universe is still there.

It has been a tough week. We have been completely inundated with what-ifs. Here we are minding our own business, doing this thing called “Raising a Baby with Special Needs” when BAM!

The genetic testing didn’t, can’t possibly, show everything. So, it may be degenerative. We won’t know until it starts to go that direction.

We don’t know if glasses will correct her eyes. She may need surgery. With lasers. {every mother’s dream}

Her back may have permanent damage that may keep her from walking. We can’t possibly know until she is older.

She may have speech issues.

With all these mays, {and didn’ts and don’ts and can’ts and won’ts} I needed to be reminded of some does and some dids and some wills. So we started Advent early. Because Christmas is about all those things. And so much more.

God does love Adelaide {and her mommy}.

He did send His son, Jesus, for Adelaide {and her mommy}.

He will do everything He says He will do for Adelaide {and her mommy}.

He did and does have a plan.

The wonder of Christmas time isn’t just the  amazing gift we were given in Jesus. It is the renewing power of being reminded that God does. He is ahead of the mays. He lives outside of it all. I am dwelling on that wonder while watching the eyes of a 3-year-old Graham light up at the umpteenth re-reading of our Jesus Storybook Bible…because the wonder is still there. And I am breathing it in.

Time’s up…until 2013.
