Just Nine Months of Speech and Language Milestones

For being nonverbal, Adelaide sure tries to say a lot of words! We have had so many speech and language milestones in 2014!

January 1:

“REE!”

Adelaide said ‘three’ for the first time!

January 4:

“Uuuu-hhh! Ooooo-oooo! Reeeeeeee!”

1,2,3.

January 9:

“Uuu-hhhh. Ooo-oooo. Reeee. Eh-un! Fiiiii. Eigh. Niiiiii!”

1,2,3,7,8,9.

January 17:

Bot: What number is this?
Adelaide: EN!
Bot: What color is this?
Adelaide: RED!

It was a ten. It was red.

January 18:

“Uh…Ooo…Reee…Orrr!”

Counting to Four!

January 28:

“Eat!”

All the sounds!

February 4:

“Uuuuhh. Two. Reeee. Four. Fiiiii!”

Much clearer!

February 11:

“Uh-er? MAMA!”

Adelaide heard someone say ‘mother’…but I guess she prefers MAMA! ♥

February 14:

“Red, green, yellow, blue, red, green, yellow, blue, red, green… What comes next?”

“Yeh-uh!”

February 21:

“Mama Dada Ammm Ah-ee Ill-uh-i”

Adelaide started saying all our names!

February 27:

“Ooorrr!”

And she held up four fingers when she said it!

March 2:

“WOW!”

One of her favorites!

March 5:

“WA-ER!” = Water!

March 6:

“I di’ it! I di’ it! I di’ it!”

I am not sure what she did…but Adelaide was pretty excited about it! ♥

March 18:

“One, TWO, Ree, OOOOOOR, HI! Eigh, NIIIIIII, EN!”

1,2,3,4,5,8,9,10.

March 19:

Adelaide asked for chicken.

April 6:

“Bye!”
We waited 20 months for this one!

April 11:

“HI, toy!”

April 21:

“A! A! A! A!”

When Adelaide said the letter A, she signed it and shouted it!

April 24:

“Sick-uh. Sick-uh! Sick-uh!”

Adelaide made a circle with her hand and told us the shape.

April 26:

“B! B! B! B!”

And she signed it while she said it!

May 4:

We had been working on days of the week. Adelaide just keeps amazing me!

May 23:

“FI! FOUR! REEE! TWO! ONE!”

May 27:

{facebook post} The girls are in there talking to one another. It’s like camp. Adelaide is that girl who hides food under her cot and Bess is the one who gets sunburned and cries for her mom every night…

June 9:

ADELAIDE COUNTED BY TENS TO 100!

June 23:

“A! E! E! E! E! EH!”

It is not Adelaide’s fault that all those letters sound the same. But she SIGNED them, so I know she knows them! A-F.

July 7:

“WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!”

July 1:

“How many shells are there?”
“EIGH!”

There were three, not eight, but Adelaide knew the answer needed to be a number! Woot!

July 17:

“CAH-UHL!”

Yes, Adelaide, that is a picture of a castle! ♥

“Adelaide, I love you!”
“I DUD DOO!”

And my heart melted into a puddle. I had waited so long…

July 18:

“A-MEN!” With little clasped hands.

Adelaide’s first time saying all four phonemes!

June 27:

“CAT!”

This is one of Adelaide’s VERY FIRST three-phoneme words. She saw the sign for cat in her sign language book and kept screaming this over and over again! So much joy!

July 20:

“WOOF!”
“QUACK!”
“SILLY!”
“ORANGE!”

July 21:

“EAT! EAT! FEED TADELAIDE!”
