I Don’t Want Sci-Fi Porn

One of my friends from church is a writer. Still unpublished, but working on her craft everyday. She sent me a manuscript to read. Which is so brave. Sending your baby to another person. I was really honored. And nervous.

The book was enthralling. Read it in three sittings. As soon as I was done, I tried to look for the sequel on Amazon. I forgot that it hasn’t been finished. Or published. That’s how great it was. And I’m picky about what I read.

I have no problems abandoning books. I don’t have a lot of time to read, so I am stingy with those minutes. I gave more than 5 hours to her book. And I wanted to read more of her work as soon as I finished that first manuscript.

I enjoy sci-fi, but it tends to be filled with porn. I don’t need to read about sex. I have lots of sex. In real life. Please don’t waste your pages. My friend managed to capture all the things I love about science fiction. And no sex. And I was surprised so many times by the plot twists…that’s a fantastic thing.

I didn’t know until a couple months ago that she even wrote. I am pretty embarrassed by that, since I’ve known her more than three years. It’s amazing what you can learn about someone over cinnamon rolls. I’m definitely going to host a brunch and book signing when she is published someday. And you will all be invited.

She should lay off the cinnamon rolls if she isn’t writing porn.
Only erotica authors need to be chubby.

Please share when it comes out! I’m a bit of a sci-fi fan…but more Jules Verne type stuff :)

  3. […] and I don’t have a photo of my friend’s manuscript. And you can’t read it until it’s published anyway. But it still deserves a spot […]
